Advanced VBHC Contracting Workshop: Contracting for Value
Many countries and health systems are moving towards value-based healthcare (VBHC) and patient-centric models.
At the micro level, VBHC focuses on achieving better patient outcomes at lower costs per patient cycle and improving the performance of care delivery teams.
At the macro level, by emphasizing improved outcomes, a higher overall health effect can be achieved per dollar or euro spent.
Contracting for value is one of the key challenges in making this transition practical. Since Michael Porter’s original analysis of VBHC in 2008, extensive experience and additional insights have been gained worldwide in the field of contracting for patient value
The workshop provides:
- An overview of VBHC contracting formats and experiences since 2008
- A methodology and model for developing value-based contracts in the context of Planned/episodic care
- Chronic care
- Population health
- Elderly care
- Resource-limited settings
- The perspectives of providers, payers, industry, employers, and patients
Participants are encouraged to bring 2–3 of their own real-world challenges related to contracting for value. These will be addressed collaboratively with faculty and fellow participants using a structured, methodological approach.
