Program description

Current and future board members must learn how to deal with disruptive times that bring complex oversight challenges. Among many others, demands for transparency, accountability, efficiency, and corporate strategy involvement are continually increasing. Therefore, a deeper understanding of the role, tasks, and responsibilities of the board is needed to cope with the increasing demands of these topics. Join us to update your knowledge of the complex world that board members need to face in 2032 and the future.

During the intensive four days, eight thought leaders will share their experiences while discussing the most recent Harvard Business Cases. All important aspects of board governance will be addressed, varying from external governance in global finance, legal and regulatory institutional frameworks, to governance inside the top layers of corporations and family businesses. Skills essential to governance excellence in today’s business landscape are also deliberated. Altogether, the focus will be on maximizing the board’s potential and the differences in the management of companies in the Netherlands and the US.

Prof. Dr. Fred van Eenennaam besides being an esteemed academic is an international non-executive and supervisory board member and the director of the consultancy firm The Decision Group. He’s been teaching Strategy & Governance to executives, board members, and MBAs for 15 years. He was the 8th member of the Microeconomics of Competitiveness Initiative at Harvard Business School and Prof. M. E. Porter, Ph.D. added him to his HBS Hall of Fame in 2012.

The masterclass session is about 4 hours. The online format starts at 2.00 pm and ends at 5.30 pm. When allowed by the COVID-19 regulation, the hybrid session is usually hosted in Amsterdam with participants connected from all around the world! When possible, a dinner is also included. 

The self tutorial directive is approximately 4 hours for each session.

Yes, we usually record our sessions for learning purposes.
